Why does the PVM-1020 show “Isc >20A” message?
The appearance of the message “Isc >20A” on the meter does not indicate a device error but results from the characteristics of new photovoltaic modules with increased dynamic capacitance, especially those using n-type technology.
In the initial phase of the short-circuit test, this capacitance causes a short, high-current pulse, and the instrument interrupts the measurement to protect the IGBT transistor.
The maximum capacitance of the tested installation at 1000 V DC is 3.2 µF for PVM-1020 and 6 µF for PVM-1021.
The maximum capacitance of the tested installation at 1500 V DC is 30 µF for PVM-1530.
